Hello! We are Sivory and Paula. We want to express our infinite gratitude for you and your courageous decision to make an adoption plan for your baby.  We feel so blessed that you are considering giving us the most wonderful, selfless gift. Without someone like you, we would never be able to fulfill our dream of becoming parents. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your consideration and for simply taking the time to learn more about us. 

Our love story actually began at church! Although we were participating in different groups, God found a way to make our paths cross. In only a way that He could do, we ran into each other, while Sivory was decorating a “paso” (structures used for procession during holy week), and Paula was finishing a conference at our church. A mutual friend introduced us… at Sivory’s request! Paula had no idea that he had noticed her at Sunday Mass before. Later that week, we met again and then talked on the phone almost every night for two weeks straight. Eventually, Sivory found the courage to ask Paula on a date, so we went to see a play together. Since then, we’ve been inseparable! In 2022, we will be celebrating our 10^th wedding anniversary.

We both love children and have always worked around children, so raising a family together has always been a part of our plan. However, some of the best laid plans don’t always come to fruition. We’ve struggled with fertility issues and have come to terms with the fact that God has other plans for our family. We cannot wait to raise a child together and share our love with a precious baby through the gift of adoption.

One thing that has been a constant in my life from a very young age is the water. As a child, I started swimming competitively in my hometown in Colombia. As I grew in this sport, I became quite good and learned the principles of discipline, responsibility and perseverance. Swimming also taught me how to be passionate about my interests and most importantly, how to be a good friend to others. This was most evident when I moved to the US at the age of 10. It was through swimming that I was able to connect with a new country and school, a new language and new friends.

Coming from a Hispanic family, the values of hard work and trust in God were instilled in me. With those values, I headed to college and found my calling studying architecture. I worked my way through the program by coaching at a swim club on the side. After I graduated, I continued to coach while also beginning my career as an architect.

I truly love what I do for a living - both designing and coaching - and I can’t wait to share those two passions with a child. I have always enjoyed working with kids and felt that I would be a natural father, when the day comes. As we wait to adopt, I find peace in knowing that God’s time is perfect, and that He has a plan for us. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about it each and every day!

Just like Sivory, I grew up in a big, loving family in Colombia. At a young age, I found myself wanting to help others - no matter the circumstances - and noticed that I was a good listener who gave sound advice, even to adults! That was how I realized that God’s purpose for me was to serve and help others. To no one’s surprise, I became a social worker, as it was the best way for me to provide outreach and help others in my community.

I moved to the US when I was 25-years-old. It wasn’t a total culture shock, but I can’t say it was easy to get my footing, right away. It took me some time to find my new community, my new church and make the connections needed to fulfill my professional calling to serve others. But eventually those all were revealed to me, and I feel so blessed to continue to serve others through social work.

Becoming a mother is something I have dreamt about for many, many years. While the journey to this point hasn’t always been easy, I trust that God’s timing is perfect, and I know that He has a little one waiting for us. I cannot wait to grow our family through adoption and fill our lives with further joy.

We fell in love with our home the moment we first saw it. We love the wide-open space and the large backyard. It’s the perfect place for a child to run around and play, and for us to host big cookouts for family and friends. In fact, we recently hosted our niece’s wedding in the backyard. It was the perfect place for the occasion and created so many wonderful memories for our family.

After moving into our home, the first order of business for us was remodeling the kitchen. Paula has a real talent for baking, so we wanted to give her the space to make incredible treats for everyone in our lives. We also wanted the kitchen to be the heart of our home, because when you really think about it - the kitchen is always the space where friends and family congregate to talk and share their love through food!

Even though we live in South Florida, our property feels pretty rural. We have fruit trees (star fruit and mango), and see peacocks walking down our street every day. It’s just a really peaceful and fun place to raise children, and we’re so excited to share everything from our home to the community with a little one.

Our family is a big part in everything we do. We are so blessed to have Sivory’s parents and niece living just ten minutes away, and to have Paula’s mother living with us in our home! They’re all very excited for us to adopt, especially Paula’s mom, who will be a huge help to us as we raise this beautiful child.

Paula’s brothers live in Central Florida and it seems like we’re always making some excuse to visit them! We see each other every other month. We like to cook out together, go to the beach, or try a new restaurant on the weekends. No matter what we’re doing, as long as we’re with our family, we’re having a great time! We’ve created many memories together over the years, but we know that there are many more to come once we welcome another baby into our family.

Sivory loves to swim, fish, and basically anything that has water involved! He is also a master on the grill! He is always trying out new recipes, hosting cook outs and sharing his passion for BBQ with family and friends. Paula, on the other hand, enjoys cooking and baking. Her latest passion is baking cookies, and she’s really good at it! Nothing will make Paula happier than to bake with a child and to teach them all of her favorite recipes.

Traveling is a passion for both of us. We love to go places and discover new cultures and always try some new food. One of our favorite trips was a two-week excursion through Spain. We tried so many new dishes - from iberico ham to cordobese eggplant to the best salted cod you could ever imagine! We also saw some incredible sights like seemingly endless lavender fields, a city built on top of a mountain called Castilla–La Mancha, and the most beautiful cathedral in Barcelona, called Sagrada Familia. We can’t wait to continue traveling around the world with a child, and to see the world through their curious eyes!

Since we are Colombians, Christmas is a very special time of the year for us. We have a tradition called “novena,” which starts 9 days before Christmas. All of our family and friends get together every day to pray and accompany Mary and Joseph until baby Jesus is born. We rotate houses each night and simply cherish the company around us. Of course, we eat and eat and eat… and dance too!
